Backpack Giveaway: Before the fall, hundreds of backpacks are filled with supplies and given to children from pre-kindergarten to college. This year we gave away over 300 backpacks to our Pantry and shelter clients.
Thanksgiving Baskets: St. Peter's Haven provides Thanksgiving baskets complete with turkeys, fresh vegetables, canned vegetables, fruit, beverages and pies to all clients who are interested in making Thanksgiving dinner for their families.
Adopt-A-Family: At Christmas, most of St Peter's Haven previous guest families as well as current residents are adopted by a family. St. Peter's Episcopal Church parishioners, residents of Clifton and nearby communities, businesses, houses of worship and others purchase gifts for current and past Haven resident families. Additional gifts are distributed to members of the Pantry.
Christmas Gifts for Pantry Families: Families who come to St. Peter's Haven Community Food Pantry are provided with gifts to families who are among the work ing poor and on government support programs. We provide them with toys for the children as well as clothing for adults. Many parents do not purchase gifts for themselves so as to provide gifts for their children. Through this program, we provide for both children and their parents. Gifts of toys and clothing can be brough to the office of St. Peter's Haven. With cash donations, toys and clothing will be purchased for the families. |
